STANDING COMMITTEES

 

 

 Community-Based Continuum of Care Committee

Purpose

To serve as a planning, advocacy and information sharing body that gains community input covering a variety of long term care needs and services in order to develop, improve and implement programs that will maintain the dignity and maximize the independence of seniors.

Monthly, on the 2nd Wednesday

CoA/CoD Joint Housing Committee

Purpose 

To promote both affordable and accessible housing opportunities that allow seniors and people with disabilities to age in place by continuing their independence and dignity.

Monthly, on the 3rd Thursday

 Legislative & Advocacy Committee

Purpose 

To review and respond to legislation and policy regarding seniors and to research information for advocacy.

Monthly, on the 3rd Monday

Minority Elders Committee

Purpose 

To develop strategies and activities that will increase effective communication, reduce barriers to specific services, and make services more responsive to a target population of ethnic elders.

Meets 

Monthly, on the 3rd Thursday
10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Nutrition Committee

Purpose

To serve as a focal point for the discussion of nutrition-related issues for the purpose of making recommendations to the Commission on Aging; serve as the focal point for the consumer community input covering nutrition issues; assist in fund-raising for nutrition programs; educate consumers about nutrition issues.

Meets

Monthly, on the 2nd Monday, immediately following the General Meeting of the Commission on Aging. 
11:15 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
225 37th Avenue, Room 132, San Mateo on alternate months.

 

 

All Committees are open to the general public for membership. You are invited to attend. All Commissioners serve on at least two standing committees and serve on ad hoc and liaison committees as needed.
