County Superintendent of Schools

Dr. John Mehl

101 Twin Dolphin Drive

Redwood City, Ca. 94065-1064

Dear Superintendent Mehl,

I hope everything is going well during your first term as County Superintendent. I am writing this letter as a follow up to several conversations about disability awareness, which I've had with fellow principals, staff members, and disabled community members. I had the opportunity to review the San Mateo County Commission on Disabilities', "Disabilities Awareness Curriculum" and find it to be excellent. This curriculum is informative and can serve as an invaluable resource for teachers who may want to increase their students' awareness and understanding of disabled people or classmates. It gives tips for talking to children about disabled people and it provides helpful lesson plans for the classroom teacher. I hope you get a chance to review the Commission's

Curriculum and can recommend it to fellow educators.  Thank you for your time and consideration John.

Sincerely,

Philip White Signature
