In coordination with the state and federal governments, San Mateo County will vaccinate 40 local healthcare workers and other medical professionals who have volunteered to provide medical care, disease investigation and vaccination capabilities in the event of a smallpox outbreak. These individuals will be part of a larger team of vaccinated healthcare workers.
