Visioning Project - Implemetation  Printer Friendly View

IMPLEMENTATION

An Inclusive Effort Will Be Needed to Implement the Vision

As County Supervisors, we initiated this process and will do our part to follow-through on these commitments and challenge other join in this effort. It will take more than the actions of five supervisors and County government to realize this inclusive vision. It will require actions large and small, over many years, by individual residents, other local agencies, the business community, non-profit agencies, neighborhood associations and organizations. All have essential roles to play. The vision must truly be shared commitments if they are to truly make a difference in the future of San Mateo County.

The social, economic and environmental goals that make up the Shared Vision are not exclusive. They are interconnected and complimentary. As a result, in order to successfully achieve the ten commitments and 25 goals they must be taken together. The challenge now is to find new and creative ways to integrate them into programs, policies and community decision-making processes.

The San Mateo County Shared Vision provides a promise of what the Peninsula can be in 2010: a place where partnerships work to ensure the people of San Mateo County are prosperous.
